Clinical findings show that many patients with heart disease still maintain their previous unhealthy lifestyle after the onset of heart disease, resulting in re-onset. There are also patients who are afraid of repeated illness, either unwilling to discharge, or frequent review after discharge. A joint study by the University of Amsterdam Medical Center, Northwestern University and National Jewish Health in Denver found that patients who avoided extreme behaviors, followed prescribed medication and maintained a healthy lifestyle could extend their health by seven years.

Of the more than 3,200 heart attack survivors included in the study, only 2% had good control of blood pressure, lipids and blood sugar one year after their heart attack or surgery. Specifically, 65 percent had high levels of "bad" cholesterol, 40 percent had high blood pressure, 79 percent were overweight and 45 percent did not exercise enough. The researchers say this could lead to a relapse or even a worse outcome. Therefore, it is recommended that after the onset of patients, on the one hand, they should follow the doctor's advice, and regularly review, adjust the type and dosage of drugs. On the other hand, adjust the lifestyle, eat more fruits and vegetables, legumes, nuts and grains; Start a cardiac rehabilitation program as early as possible and exercise actively under the guidance of a doctor; Stop smoking and limit alcohol to reduce stress. By controlling risk factors, patients can reduce the incidence of heart disease and stroke within 7 years. ▲(Zhang Wei)
